About Buxa

Buxa National Park in the Alipurduar district of the Dooars region is a former British-era timber forest that straddles the Bhutan border. The park contains the Buxa Fort, a historic structure used by the British to control the Bhutan trade route and later as a political prison. The forest forms part of a trans-boundary wildlife corridor with Bhutan's Royal Manas National Park.
