About Dampa Rainforest

Dampa Tiger Reserve is Mizoram's largest protected area and one of northeast India's most important tiger landscapes, covering the rugged Dampa and Tuilut hills near the Bangladesh border. The reserve's dense semi-evergreen and moist deciduous forest is largely inaccessible and therefore shelters wildlife that has been virtually undisturbed for decades. The Hoolock gibbon is present in good numbers, and the reserve's elephant population occasionally crosses into Bangladesh through the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
