About Mukurthi
Mukurthi National Park protects the highest reaches of the Nilgiris, a cold, wind-swept landscape of montane Shola grasslands among the most ancient and threatened plant communities in India. The Nilgiri tahr finds here one of its most important habitats, with herds grazing the steep grass slopes above the clouds. The park also encompasses the sacred Mukurthi Peak, source of the Bhavani River.
