About Campbell Bay Rainforest
Campbell Bay National Park occupies the southernmost reaches of the Indian nation, protecting some of the most remote tropical rainforest on the subcontinent in the southern Nicobar Islands. The forest's extraordinary isolation has produced a unique assemblage of endemic species found nowhere else, from insects and reptiles to birds and small mammals. The Shompen people, one of India's last hunter-gatherer communities, have lived in this forest for thousands of years, their ancestral territories now largely protected within the park.
