About Mahatma Gandhi Marine
Spread across fifteen islands south of Port Blair, Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park protects spectacular coral reefs rivalling the Maldives in variety and colour. The shallow seagrass beds are a stronghold for the globally endangered Dugong, making this one of India's most important marine sanctuaries. Over 50 species of coral and hundreds of reef fish species have been recorded here.
