About Fakim Rainforest

Fakim Wildlife Sanctuary in Mon district near the Arunachal Pradesh border is one of the most remote and ecologically pristine protected areas in northeast India. The sanctuary's subtropical and warm temperate forest is home to the spectacular Blyth's tragopan — one of the world's most beautiful pheasants, with the male's brilliant blue and red facial lappets making it arguably the most colourful bird in India. The sanctuary is largely inaccessible and therefore preserves an extraordinary degree of ecological integrity.
