About Peechi-Vazhani Forest

Peechi-Vazhani Wildlife Sanctuary in Thrissur district is a compact but rich moist deciduous forest built around two reservoirs — the Peechi and Vazhani dams — whose picturesque shores attract herds of elephants and sambar. The sanctuary serves as an important water catchment area for Thrissur city and connects to the larger Parambikulam-Anamalai forest complex through forest corridors. Teak plantations interspersed with natural forest patches create a patchwork landscape that is particularly attractive for birding.
