About Parambikulam Rainforest

Parambikulam Tiger Reserve shelters a remarkable concentration of biodiversity in the Palakkad district, including what is believed to be the world's oldest and largest teak tree — the Kannimara teak, estimated to be over 450 years old and with a girth of 22 metres. Three reservoirs within the reserve create an unusual mosaic of forest and water that supports extraordinary wildlife, including some of the few remaining populations of four-horned antelope in Kerala. The reserve is known for strict but well-managed ecotourism, including canopy walks and bamboo rafting.
