About Shendurney Forest

Shendurney Wildlife Sanctuary in the Kollam district is one of the most biodiversity-rich and least-visited sanctuaries in Kerala, protecting a mosaic of tropical wet evergreen and moist semi-evergreen forest. The grizzled giant squirrel — a large, distinctive species with grizzled grey fur — is the sanctuary's most prized resident and is found here in significant numbers. The sanctuary abuts the Kalakad-Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve in Tamil Nadu, forming a continuous forest block of over 800 square kilometres across the southern Ghats.
